About Our Products
What makes your candles different? Our candles are made with a blend of grass-fed beef tallow and pure beeswax, creating a traditional and natural alternative to paraffin and soy wax. This combination burns cleanly, has excellent scent throw, and creates a beautiful, long-lasting candle that's free from synthetic additives.
Why do you use tallow and beeswax together? Tallow and beeswax complement each other perfectly. Beeswax burns brighter, and helps the candle hold its shape, while tallow provides excellent fragrance retention and a smooth, creamy texture. Together, they create a delightful candle.
Are tallow and beeswax candles safe to burn indoors? Yes! Both tallow and beeswax burn cleanly with minimal soot when the wick is properly trimmed. They're natural, non-toxic options for your home. Beeswax even naturally purifies the air by releasing negative ions.
What's the difference between your candles and wax melts? Candles come with a wick for burning, while wax melts are wickless and designed to be melted in a wax warmer. Wax melts are great for trying different scents and offer a flame-free option.
Allergy-Friendly Products
Why are your products allergy-friendly? Our tallow and beeswax candles and wax melts are crafted with sensitive individuals in mind. We use simple, natural ingredients that your body recognizes - grass-fed tallow and pure beeswax - without the synthetic additives, paraffin, or petroleum-based waxes that can trigger sensitivities in conventional candles.
What makes them safe for people with allergies?
- Natural Base Ingredients: Made with grass-fed tallow and pure beeswax - no soy or coconut wax (great for those with soy or coconut allergies)
- Phthalate-Free Fragrances: All our scents are free from phthalates and other harsh chemicals commonly found in conventional candles

Should I still be cautious if I have severe allergies? While our products are made with allergy-friendly ingredients, everyone's sensitivities are different. If you have severe allergies or sensitivities, we recommend doing a test burning the candle in a well-ventilated area initially. If you have specific concerns about particular fragrances or ingredients, please consult with your healthcare provider or contact us at support@tallowtraditions.com.
Candle Care & Usage
How long do your candles burn? Burn time varies by candle size. Our 4oz candles burn for approximately 26 hours, while our 8oz candles burn for approximately 42 hours.
How do I get the best performance from my candle?
- Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn
- Allow the wax to melt to the edges on the first burn (usually 2-3 hours) to prevent tunneling
- Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time
- Keep away from drafts and never leave unattended
Why does my candle have a white film on it? That's called "bloom" and it's completely natural with beeswax candles! It's a sign of pure, high-quality beeswax. You can gently buff it with a soft cloth if you prefer, or leave it - it won't affect the candle's performance.
How do I use wax melts? Simply place 1-2 cubes in your wax warmer and turn it on. The fragrance will fill your space as the wax melts. When you're done, turn off the warmer and let the wax cool before removing or changing scents.
How long do wax melts last? Each wax melt cube typically provides 8-12 hours of fragrance, depending on your warmer and room size. You'll know it's time to change when the scent fades.
Can I mix different wax melt scents? Absolutely! Feel free to experiment with combining scents to create your own custom blends.
Ordering & Shipping
Do you offer local delivery? Yes! If you're located within 10 miles of our zip code 85050, we're happy to offer hand delivery for free and anything over 10 miles up to 30 miles with delivery fee. If shipping is charged and you are instead wanting local delivery send us an email at support@tallowtraditions.com which we will then refund the shipping cost and have it hand delivered instead.
How long does shipping take? Standard shipping typically takes 3-5 business days within the US. You'll receive a tracking number once your order ships.
Will my candles melt during shipping? We take extra care with packaging, especially during warm months. Tallow and beeswax have higher melting points than many waxes, but if your candle arrives softened, simply let it cool and solidify - it won't affect the quality or performance.
Do you ship internationally? We currently do not ship internationally.
Returns & Refunds
What is your return policy? There is a 7 day return window. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unused, and in its original packaging. You'll also need the receipt or proof of purchase. Customer is responsible for return shipping.

What if my candle arrives damaged? Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos to support@tallowtraditions.com so we can work together in finding a solution.
Safety & Storage
How should I store my candles and wax melts? Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. While tallow and beeswax are more heat-resistant than many waxes, avoid storing in very hot areas to maintain their quality.
Are your products safe around pets? Our candles & wax melts are made with natural tallow, beeswax, and fragrance oils. As with any candle, keep them out of reach of pets and never leave burning candles unattended. If you have concerns about specific fragrances, feel free to contact us.
Can I reuse my candle jar? Yes! Once your candle is finished, you can clean out the jar with hot soapy water and reuse it for storage, plants, or other purposes.
What kind of containers do you use for your candles? Our candles come in metal tins instead of glass! We chose tins because they're lightweight, won't break if dropped, and are perfect for taking your favorite scent anywhere. We are currently experimenting with creating concrete candle vessels.
Ingredients & Sourcing
Where do you source your tallow and beeswax? We take pride in rendering our own beef tallow in-house to ensure the highest quality and purity. We also work with reputable suppliers for additional grass-fed beef tallow and pure yellow & white beeswax, all sourced from trusted providers who prioritize quality and ethical practices. This combination allows us to maintain our high standards while creating the best possible candles and wax melts for you.
Are your candles all-natural? Our candles are made with natural tallow and beeswax. Our scented varieties use high-quality fragrance oils free from Phthalates. We never use paraffin, soy, or synthetic additives in our wax blend.
Product Safety Standards
What are parabens and why don't you use them? Parabens are synthetic preservatives commonly used in personal care products and some candles. They've been linked to hormone disruption and potential health concerns. At Tallow Traditions, we never use parabens in our fragrance oils or color dyes because we believe in keeping our products as clean and safe as possible for you and your family.
What are phthalates and why should I avoid them? Phthalates are chemicals often used to make fragrances last longer and help scents bind to products. However, they're known endocrine disruptors that can interfere with your body's hormones. Studies have raised concerns about their effects on reproductive health and development. That's why all of our fragrance oils are completely phthalate-free - we want you to enjoy beautiful scents without compromising your health.
What is Prop 65 and why does it matter? California's Proposition 65 is one of the strictest consumer safety laws in the United States. It requires warnings on products containing chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm. Our fragrance oils and color dyes are free from Prop 65 ingredients, meaning they don't contain any of these harmful chemicals. This gives you peace of mind that what you're burning in your home meets California's rigorous safety standards.
How do your candles and wax melts reflect these safety standards? Every candle and wax melt we create is made with your safety in mind. We use only natural beef tallow and beeswax as our base, eco-friendly color dyes that are paraben-free, phthalate-free, and free from harmful chemicals, and premium fragrance oils that meet the same strict standards. This means when you light a Tallow Traditions candle or one of our wax melts, you're not releasing harmful chemicals into your home - just clean, beautiful fragrance from ingredients you can trust.
Why is it important to choose clean candles? Many conventional candles contain paraffin wax (a petroleum byproduct), synthetic fragrances with phthalates, and artificial dyes with harmful additives. When burned, these can release toxins into the air you breathe. By choosing Tallow Traditions, you're choosing candles that burn cleanly with natural ingredients, creating a healthier environment for your home and family.
Scents & Customization
What scents do you offer? Our seasonal scents will change, our year-round scents are: First Dance, Whispering Twilight, Saffron Mirage (Inspired by Baccarat Rouge 540), Velvet Plum to name a few. Can I request custom scents or sizes? Our custom scent inquiry form for a specific scent absolutely, as far as sizes we are currently offering 4oz and 8oz. We are currently not taking requests for custom sizes at this time as we are working hard to get out our concrete candle vessels ready.
